I remember being about 10 years old walking down the streets of San Francisco with two friends, their dads and my dad. As we are walking a random man (perhaps homeless, not sure) walks up to my dad for no reason and spits in his face.
It was shocking. Being punched is one thing, and something that has an instant response - you either defend your self and start throwing blows, or you run like the wind. But being spit on degrades a person in a different way.
I am neither a Mike Arrington fan or foe. I have worked with him on occassion during my career in PR, but never to the point where I think he’d pick me out of a crowd or recognize my name. But I read a lot and people certainly have strong opinions about Mike, sometimes bad ones.
Unless the “spitter” was wronged by Mike in a major way - as in, Mike pantsed him on stage during a panel in front of hundreds of audience members (I would laugh) - I cannot believe spitting in his face was just.
Have a nice break Mike.
